For the fifth year in a row, Ganado Advocates, in collaboration with the Malta Bankers’ Association, will be organising its Annual Banking & Finance Law seminar, a yearly appointment for leading lawyers and officers working in the banking and finance law industries.

This year’s seminar will feature Jean-François Adelle, a partner at the French law-firm Jeantet, who will be delivering a session on the watershed 2016 reforms of the law of obligations in the French Civil Code.

This reform has been described as the deepest overhaul of French contract law since the enactment of the French Civil Code in 1804. David Fabri, a senior lecturer and head of the Commercial Law Department at the University of Malta, will also be discussing whistleblowing, with particular regard to the banking sector.

Other speakers include David Borg Carabott, who will deal with a general regulatory update on FINREG, and Lorraine Poole who will address relevant issues to consider by Maltese lawyers when dealing with international loan agreements.

Conrad Portanier, head of banking at Ganado Advocates, said: “Now in its fifth year, this banking and finance law seminar seeks to give both an international and local update on legal and regulatory topics of importance. We are glad that it has become an annual calendar event in the industry.’

The seminar will be held on March 8 (1.30pm to 5.45pm) at Le Méridien St Julian’s Hotel & Spa.  For further information, visit www.ganadoadvocates.com.
