Over 800 students recently graduated from the Technical College of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (Mcast) after successfully completing a Level 4 advanced diploma programme in one of various areas of study.

The six graduation ceremonies, held at the college’s main campus in Paola, involved students who successfully completed courses run by the Mcast Institute of Applied Sciences, including its Centre for Agriculture, Aquatics and Animal Sciences, the institutes of Engineering and Transport, of Information and Communication Technology, of the Creative Arts, of Engineering and Transport, of Business Management and Commerce, and of the Institute for Community Services respectively.

The Mcast Technical College provides a wide range of programmes of further study at MQF/EQF Level 4 in close collaboration with industry. Its advanced diplomas enable students to acquire the knowledge, skills and competences needed to take up technical positions in industry or to progress to the University College.

Level 4 programmes include apprenticeships in various fields of studies, thus enabling students to also gain practical work experience while studying.

The college is continuously seeking to provide new opportunities and programmes for its students and this year it has extended the apprenticeship component to new Technical College advanced diplomas. It is also offering a newly revised Advanced Diploma in Electronics with different specialisations embedded in it. This will enable students to engage in a basic common curriculum in the area for two years and then specialise in a particular area of interest in their third year of study.  The Technical College is also offering a revised Advanced Diploma in Electrical Systems that will enable participants to get both authorisations A and B without the need to attend supplementary evening courses.

The Technical College is also providing a revised Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering that will enable participants to get a sound grounding in civil engineering technology with the possibility to specialise in an area of interest in their third year of the course, including a new stream related to Road Civil Engineering.

The certificates were presented by Mcast principal and CEO Stephen Cachia in the presence of Victor Satariano, deputy president of the college’s board of governors, registrar Ronald Curmi, Technical College head Mario Cardona, and the respective institute directors.
