Renowned Turkish aerobatic team the Turkish Stars will be showing their prowess in the Maltese skies for the first time ever in the history of the Malta International Airshow.

The Turkish Air Force aerobatic team performs its displays with eight supersonic fighter jets: the Canadair NF-5s, which had been obtained from the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

This makes the Turkish Stars one of the very few national aerobatics teams to perform with supersonic aircraft, and the only one with formations of eight supersonic jets. Twelve F-5s are available to the team. The team makes use of C-130 Hercules, C-160 Transall or the newly acquired Airbus A400M support aircraft, as support aircraft. The team is stationed at the Konya Air Base of 3rd Main Jet Base Group Command.

The team was originally scheduled to feature in the 2014 edition but due to last minute changes their participation had to be postponed.

The Malta International Airshow will be held on September 23 and 24. The static display and pilot meet-and-greet will be held at the airport, while the flying display can be best viewed from Smart City Malta.
