There is certainly a lot of truth in Michela Spiteri’s piece about Sliema (‘Sliema, I love you but I don’t like you anymore’, The Sunday Times of Malta, May 19), but she is surely wrong in claiming a scarcity of bins on the Sliema promenade.

On my usual daily walk recently I counted no fewer than 33 bins on the promenade between the Sliema boundary near Balluta church and the Hallet bus stop at Qui-Si-Sana.

As a ‘foreigner’ (a popular word in Malta), I even picked up several items of rubbish and deposited them therein.
