Almost a month ago I filed a report with Infrastructure Malta that the traffic lights at Sir Paul Boffa Avenue, Paola, leading to the way uphill to Santa Luċija, had changed their orientation and posed a traffic hazard to both drivers and pedestrians using the nearby pedestrian crossing.

Over several days, I regularly phoned Infrastructure Malta protesting that the deadly traffic trap had not as yet been rectified.  The lady receptionist always informed me that the matter was in hand as the irregularity had already been reported to the responsible contractor.

On May 14, I phoned up the engineer in charge who came to the same conclusion:  “We are following the matter”.  Later, on the same day, I reported the matter to the personal secretary of the minister responsible.

The matter was finally dealt with on Thursday, May 16. I would like to congratulate Infrastructure Malta for their dedicated duty towards safety on the roads.  Taking more than 20 days to fix dangerous traffic lights is really an accomplished feat deserving praise. Shame on you Infrastructure Malta.
