Site excavation works for The Shoreline Residence’s multi-purpose project at Ricasoli, in the vicinity of Smart City Malta, have started. The competitive tender for the complete excavation of the site has been awarded to Polidano Group.

During March this year, The Shoreline received the definitive approval of its development application by the Planning Authority. Excavation works are expected to be completed by the end of October. This will be followed by the engagement of the main construction contractor.

Home to approximately 370 luxury apartments, The Shoreline will comprise a two-storey, double-height shopping mall covering 25,500 square metres, with ample space for underground parking, overlooking the Smart City Laguna, recreation areas and other amenities.

The Shoreline aims to offer its residential clients affordable luxury in a secure, car-free and clean environment close to all that matters, as well as the added value of exciting investment and retail options so lacking in the south.

“Our vision is to create a great place to establish roots, raise a family and appreciate the great views – in one phrase: to enjoy the superb location close to all that matters,” said sales and marketing manager Andrew Gatt.

At this stage on-site heavy equipment, including a  special cutting machine, is being utilised. This phase is divided into two parts: preparatory work for excavations to be followed by direct digging for construction purposes. The earmarked site will be excavated down to five levels to accommodate one double-height retail area and three levels of garage spaces.

The Shoreline has further announced that it appointed En-Sure (www.ensure.com.mt/) as environmental site monitors. “We recognise the importance of environmental responsibility, which includes ongoing environmental monitoring according to a comprehensive suite of parameters that comprise air quality, noise and vibration. The good news is that some 90 per cent of the 230,000 cubic metres of rock to be excavated will be used again as recycled material,” said Ben Muscat, chairman of The Shoreline Residence Ltd.

En-sure carries out such site monitoring in line with international standards, using sampling protocols according to approved method statements.
