May I congratulate the author of the article ‘Maltese devotion to Saint of miracles remains strong’ (The Sunday Times of Malta, May 5) for his research on the churches and niches dedicated to Saint Vincent Ferrer.

However,  the author unintentionally missed a painting of this Angelic saint in our parish church of Tarxien.

In our town this is how he is referred to as he is always represented with two wings on his back.

In 1924 the parish priest of Tarxien, realising there was a lot of devotion to this saint, commissioned a painting of him by Maltese artist Ġużé Calì.

The painting was completed that same year and hung on the column opposite the side altar of Saint Leonard, also known as the altar of Saint Anne, as at that time on that altar there was a ‘sotto kwadru’ of Saint Anne.

Some 30 years or so ago the artist Raphael Bonnici Calì had it cleaned up and the two wings on the saint’s back became quite visible as they are today.

Please continue to delight us, your readers, with such researched articles.
