Stamp collectors’ meeting
To coincide with its 20th anniversary, the Gozo Philatelic Society now has an office at 31, Main Gate Street, Victoria. It is Room 2 on the first floor (above Playpen).
It will be open regularly on Saturdays from 9.30 to 11.30am for stamp collectors to peruse publications, acquire and discuss philatelic material and even look at the Melitensia items in the Juncker Collection.
New exhibit at Il-Ħaġar
The Gozo Philatelic Society has also set up a new exhibit in its showcase on level -1 at Il-Ħaġar (St George’s Square, Victoria).
The range of philatelic covers produced by the GPS show various aspects of Gozo’s bounty – natural and not.
Opening hours remain from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week. There is no entrance fee.
Lecture and interview
Today will see two events being held at Il-Ħaġar museum in Victoria.
At 7.30pm Valerio Ballotta (from GBK) will be interviewing – in Italian – Arialdo Ceribelli (from Bergamo’s Galleria Ceribelli). Ceribelli will be reminiscing about his friend Gianfranco Ferroni, the important artist who died in 2001. This will be followed by a tour of the exhibition, consisting of Ferroni works, including etchings and lithographs, as well as others by Walter Coccetta, which remains open until June 13.
At 11am, Arnold Cassola will be giving a lecture in English on a topic he has researched: ‘Suleiman the Magnificent’.
Entrance is free to both events but it is recommended to reserve a seat on events@heartofgozo.org.mt.
