Friends, Foes & Fireworks, a feature film filmed in one night without a script, will be shown today at 7.30pm at the Spazju Kreattiv cinema, Valletta.

Filmed in a single night, the craziest and most chaotic night of the year – New Year’s Eve – and completely improvised, Friends, Foes & Fireworks is an ambitious drama  by Maltese-Australian director Sarah Jayne Portelli and Ivan Malekin exploring relationships, love, friendship, and the truths we try but fail to keep to ourselves.

The story features Fiona Day, who has received a life-changing health diagnosis. In an attempt to curb feelings of isolation and anxiety, she hosts a New Year’s Eve reunion with her closest female friends. However, the night of celebration quickly goes wrong as old tensions surface, past rivalries are reignited and harsh truths are confronted. Will the group make it through the night together or will their friendship fizzle out like a fireworks display?

Following the screening, the directors will discuss how they managed to film an entire feature in one night without a script, while also answering questions from the audience.
