The Finance Malta 12th Annual Conference, entitled ‘Malta: a platform for innovation’, will be held from June 5 to 6 at the Hilton Conference Centre, with the main conference being held on June 6 and an evening networking reception taking place on June 5.

REYL & Cie, a global financial services company that offers fund depositary services to a client base consisting of financial institutions as well as fund managers and administrators, has been confirmed as diamond sponsor.

Teaming up with Finance Malta and a line-up of high-calibre speakers is Federica Taccogna, a compliance professional who leads the FTI consulting team that performs investigations on behalf of regulators and helps financial services organisations to achieve compliance. Ms Taccogna will be chairing the conference throughout the day, alongside moderating a panel discussion and delivering the concluding remarks.

Finance Malta has also invited Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and the Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation, Silvio Schembri, to address delegates about Malta’s achievements in innovation and financial services. Other participants and speakers include Michael Imeson, senior content editor of Financial Times Live and a contributing editor of The Banker, Mario de Marco, Opposition spokesman for finance, Joe Cuschieri, CEO of the Malta Financial Services Authority, and Wayne Pisani, president of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.

Finance Malta chairman Kenneth Farrugia said: “During this year’s conference we will be discussing the challenges and opportunities the domestic and global financial services sector is going through in view of technological advancements and innovation. The conference is timely and relevant at a time when AI and Blockchain technologies are starting to transform, if not disrupt, payment systems, core banking activities, portfolio and asset management and the insurance industry. Fintech and regtech are becoming buzzwords.”

This year’s conference has also attracted a number of high-profile partners and sponsors, including Vacancy Centre who are platinum sponsors, Francis J. Vassallo & Associates, Apex Fund Services (Malta) Limited, Western Union and Dolfin who are gold sponsors, and Computime and AlterDomus who are silver sponsors.

Other partners and sponsors include Castille Resources, who will be sponsoring the pre-conference networking event, Equiom as sponsors of the lunch and networking breaks, and WorkingTown.com, Active Services Ltd and Vodafone who are bronze sponsors.
