I would like to thank all those who helped and supported me in the organisation of the Guardamangia Accordion Concert. The audience included European tourists who attended after seeing the forthcoming events page on www.visitmalta.com.

I particularly would like to express my gratitude to the Santa Maria Accordion Band Malta and all soloist accordionists, including the one who came from Gozo.

The encouragement of the Pietà mayor and the local council was truly appreciated.

I was behind the first accordion festival held in Malta two years ago and hope the second edition can be held in the near future.

To me, the accordion is a golden musical instrument and it deserves to be better known in Malta, where it dates back half a century.

I am now calling for the compilation of a directory of living accordion players in the Maltese islands, which can then be followed by a meeting for all those interested. I am working on an information booklet on those who played the accordion but, unfortunately, are not with us anymore.

Something must be done to raise awareness and to encourage children and youths to learn playing the accordion.

I can be contacted at PO Box 16, Msida or via e-mail at ntia68@go.net.mt.
