Plans to open international school
Mrs Diana Leffler, who arrived in Malta with her husband and daughter aboard their yacht Chantelle about a year ago, has applied to the Education authorities to open an international school for children of various nationalities who are with their parents in Malta.
Mrs Leffler’s experience as a teacher with multinational classes goes back to before the war, in India. When war broke out, she was asked by the Indian government to help with the education of children and she soon opened schools in Calcutta and Kalimpong, in the Himalayas.
She takes a radical outlook towards education, especially of the young: a firm believer in small classes and individual tuition, she lays great stress on the arts, offering children an opportunity to test themselves in drama, music, dancing and elocution.
