Some weeks ago, I had the joy of visiting in pilgrimage the burial place of Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko, the spiritual director of Solidarność (Solidarity), who was killed by the Communists in 1984.

The entire priestly ministry of Blessed Popiełuszko revolved around the sentence from St Paul to the Romans: “Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:21).

Why not make it our life’s unending motto, as Blessed Popiełuszko did?
