The sixth edition of the Valletta Green Festival opens in Valletta on Thursday May 9 at 9.30am and will run till Sunday May 12 at 8pm. This festival is being organised by the newly-launched Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA) and is part of the Valletta 2018 Cultural Programme legacy.

As in previous editions, the festival will transform St George’s Square, this time with a colourful floral installation containing a message that raises awareness about the dangers of single-use plastic to our planet.

The Infiorata this year will use flowers to depict the beauty of our land and sea, and waste collected from around the island to depict the harsh reality of the pollution we create and live with day by day.

Various stands disseminating information by NGOs, WasteServ Malta Ltd., the Environmental Landscaping Consortium (ELC), the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) and Ambjent Malta will be present throughout the duration of the Festival.

On Saturday May 11, local band SterjoTipi will be performing, starting from Freedom Square at 10am and travelling down Republic Street to finish in style at St George’s Square with a lively performance.

A legacy of the Valletta 2018 Foundation, the Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA) is tasked with sustaining and strengthening the capital city’s vibrant cultural life through the creation of an annual programme of creative events developed in collaboration with artists and other Public Cultural Organisations.

The Valletta Green Festival is a Valletta Cultural Agency project, in collaboration with the Ministry for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA), the Environmental Landscaping Consortium (ELC), Ambjent Malta, WasteServ Malta Ltd, and several environmental NGOs.
