A playground is being built on Mdina Road, Mrieħel. Of course, having more fun parks for children to run about and play is commendable, but one would expect some thought before choosing the location. One main aspect is safety, closely followed by pollution. In this case, the choice of location leaves a lot to be desired on both counts since it sits right along a very busy thoroughfare.

In the dark

Bollards in Attard Road, Attard, should have luminous strips attached to be visible in the dark. Motorists driving down the road in the dark risk crashing into them as they are barely visible. Should not all such equipment have such strips in view of their use?

Mosta inaction

A Mosta resident complains she informed the local council about three weeks ago that a damaged iron barrier in Tower Street, corner with Eucharistic Congress Road, needed attention as did a pole displaying a No Entry sign adjacent to the barrier. She was told they were the responsibility of Transport Malta and would be informing them. Still, the situation remained unchanged until a few days ago. What is Transport Malta waiting for to take remedial action, provided it has been contacted by the local council?

In tatters

A street name in the area known as the Three Villages, bordering Balzan, Lija and Attard, has been in tatters for weeks. As a result, the name is illegible. One of the councils of the three villages should ensure such situations are avoided. The area is somewhat of an attraction and deserves to be kept in top shape.

Pole position

Neighbours in Jean de la Valette Street, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, have long complained to the authorities concerned about an electricity pole placed a metre or so away from a makeshift side wall. People in the neighbourhood have become aware of the possible danger the pole poses but those from outside the locality could simply drive straight into it.
