I think readers might like to have an explanation of the reason behind Eddie Aquilina’s laughably incontinent article (‘Time to call it a day’, April 24). It stems almost certainly from my refusal some 17 years ago, when I was chairman of the board of governors of St Edward’s College to countenance him as a member of the board since he lacked both the background and the intellect to serve on it.
That judgement still stands and the decision clearly still rankles.
