ANDERSON. On Sunday, March 17, JAMES EDWARD (‘Jim’), aged 83, of Sliema, beloved husband and above all, best friend of his wife of 37 years, Lindsay (Mann), passed away peacefully at home. He will be greatly missed by his sister Patricia, his sister-in-law Rachel (Mann), his daughters Susan (Matthew) in California and Janice in Washington, his son James (Goldsmith) in Florida, his grandchildren Alissa and Jonathan (Pfeffer) in California and all his friends. As was his desire, his ashes will be scattered in Ireland. Be still. Close your eyes. Breathe. Listen for my footfall in your heart.Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CUTAJAR. On Friday 26, FILIPPA née Chircop, aged 80, of Żebbuġ, widow of Guido, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved children, Joyce and her husband John, Phyllis and her husband Charles, Donia and her husband Mario, Anna and her husband Christ, Dominic and his wife Marcelline, Mario widower of her daughter Maria, her loving grandchildren, Jessica, Donalise and her husband Medwin, Josmar, Nadesh, Brandon, Odin, Isaac, Demaris, Muriel and Mariah, her great-grandchild Keylana, her sisters and brothers and their families, her in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital, tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, at 1.15pm for St Philip parish church, Żebbuġ, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Żebbuġ in the family grave. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Filippa knew what true love is, what it really means. She taught us to forget ourselves and think of others, always. Kind, considerate, generous and altruistic, she was a ready listener, full of human understanding, spreading happiness and peace around her. Vanity and ostentation were not in her dictionary but she was elegant in her simplicity, showing that less is more. Her life was so meaningful, showering love and sympathy to all. And this love and goodness will long remain in our midst, with her maxim “Love overcomes everything” living on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Farewell sweet angel, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grand mother, aunt and friend. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GRECH. On Wednesday, April 24, MARIA of Victoria, Gozo, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her dearest children Michael and his wife Anna, Frankie and his wife Josalda, George and his wife Josienne, her grandchildren David and his wife Miriam, Janet and her husband Adrian Mizzi, Ruth and her husband Danny Magro, Sarah, Nicholas and Lauren and great-grandchildren Gabriel, Rafael and Chloe. The funeral cortège leaves Gozo General Hospital today, Friday, April 26 at 4.30pm for St George’s Basilica, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 5pm followed by interment at St Mary’s Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

HAYES. On April 23, JOAN, née Xuereb aged 76, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital. She leaves to mourn her loss her loving family. Her three sons Christopher, John and Matthew, their partners, Yasmeen, MerryAnn and Amanda. Her brother Albert, and sister-in-law Joanna. Her nieces Cathy, Anna and her husband Stephen. Jimmy and his sister Jane. Her sisters-in-spirit Maria Grech Ganado and Maria (Mucca) Buttigieg and her cousins. Her beloved grandchildren Keith, Christina, Ben, Rebecca, Jamie, Saffron and Robert and their partners Alana, Marica and Josefin. Her great-grandchildren Alesha and Christopher. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Friday, April 26 at 8.30am for St Julian’s parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. At Joan’s request, please do not wear black nor bring flowers, but donations to Hospice Malta would be appreciated. The family particularly wish to thank the staff at Mater Dei Hospital for their kind support and assistance. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Requiem Mass

Today at 6.30pm at Tal-Ibraġ parish church a Mass for the repose of the souls of BERNARD and MARY ROSE BORDA will take place. May they rest in peace.
A trigesima die Mass for the repose of the soul of JOE ZAMMIT (Bolon) will be celebrated tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, at 7pm, at Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema.
