Howzat! The Spondon Cricket Club is bowled over by the way a video of an incident last week has gone viral.

"That's escalated quickly!" it tweeted.

The clip shows one of their fielders missing a ball and rolling onto the ground. His teammate behind him fortunately caught it but unfortunately lobbed it straight at the kneeling man, hitting him squarely on the head.

 

The video has been viewed over 2.5 million times, spreading around the world and making headlines as far away as Australia.

Martin Burley, captain of Spondon's fifth side, who were batting at the time, told BBC the passage of play was something every club cricketer could relate to.
