Matthew Naudi has been appointed president of the Foundation for Human Resources Development during the first board meeting held on April 15. Michelle Fenech Seguna, director of HR at the Westin Dragonara, was appointed vice-president during the same meeting.

The other members elected during the FHRD’s biennial general meeting to sit on the FHRD board for the coming two years are: Christine Coleiro, group chief HR officer at Fimbank; Mark Bugeja, head of HR at Nectar; Claudine Attard, senior manager, PwC; Anne Marie Thake, head of department (Policy Studies), Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta; and Caroline Klass, head of HR at HSBC.

Michelle Gialanze, Diane Vella Muscat and Mary Scicluna have been appointed by the government to sit on the board. In thanking outgoing president Christine Coleiro for her valid contribution and unique leadership skills, Mr Naudi said he was honoured to be elected as the new FHRD president and hoped to carry on the excellent work of his predecessors.

“I am confident the new board has the right mix of knowledge to see through the major initiatives planned for the coming two years.”

Among these initiatives are the launch of the HR Quality Mark, the introduction of an HR warrant for HR professionals and the FHRD annual conference, which has become an annual calendar appointment for all local HR professionals.

Mr Naudi is currently chief HR officer at Allied Newspapers Ltd. With over 12 years’ experience in HR, and more than 30 years’ experience in the local news media industry, Mr Naudi hopes that together with the rest of the board, the foundation will continue to spearhead the evolution of people management and development practices as well as the human resources profession in Malta.

FHRD is an autonomous, private, independent body. It offers its own set of professional accredited training programmes and organises a number of events related to the world of HR. The foundation also offers a set of academic programmes in the field of management and psychology in partnership with the University of Leicester.

FHRD is a member of the European Association of Personnel Management and the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations.
