ST ANDREWS 0

VALLETTA 4

Fontanella 46, Nwoko 68, Gavrila 77, Calleja Cremona 82og.

A sparkling Valletta produced some champagne fare in the second half to score an impressive 4-0 win over St Andrews.

St Andrews soaked up the first half pressure very confidently with a solid base but Valletta’s class finally told in the second half

Barely had the second half started when Mario Fontanella opened the scoring for the Citizens as he stuck his foot out to direct a Steve Borg effort into goal.

St Andrews could do nothing to prevent Nwoko from giving his side a two-goal cushion.

The Malta striker ran inside the goal area to meet an inch-perfect cross from Pena Beltre before heading into the net past a rooted Calleja Cremona.

On 77 minutes, a good work from substitute Bogdan Gavrila led to the Valletta striker rattling the post with a rifled shot- an effort that landed up in the net after ricocheting off the unfortunate Calleja Cremona.

Nine minutes from time, St Andrews suffered another blow when Ricardo Martin was dismissed after picked up two yellow cards in the space of few minutes.

And in the closing stages, Santiago Malano made it four when he forced Calleja Cremona to push his effort over the line.

Enmy Pena Beltre of Valletta was named BOV Player of the Match.
