A performance by Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet of Dmitri Shostakovich’s The Golden Age will be screened at Spazju Kreattiv Cinema tomorrow, at 6pm. With its jazzy score and music-hall atmosphere, featuring beautiful tangos, the ballet is a refreshing and colourful dive into the roaring 1920s. The plot revolves around a young fisherman Boris who falls in love with Rita. He follows her to her favourite nightly haunt The Golden Age cabaret, where he realises she is the beautiful dancer ‘Mademoiselle Margot’, but is also the love interest of the local gangster Yashka.
