The second edition of the youth theatre festival Trikki Trakki will be performed at Blue Box Theatre, M Space, Msida, on Saturday.

During the show, six groups of students, aged 10 and 11, from schools all across Malta will be challenged to perform six theatrical adaptations of classic original works of Molière, Shakespeare, Homer, Aeschylus and Chekhov into 15-minute shows performed in a mixture of Maltese and English for a young audience.

In so doing, the children have fully immersed themselves in the world of theatre, not only by learning lines, dressing up and performing, but also by learning how to make their own costumes, contributing ideas to the scripts and learning how to apply their own stage make-up.

The groups are directed respectively by Malcolm Galea, Josette Ciappara, Anthony Bezzina, Stephen Oliver, Isabelle Gatt, and Isabel Warrington.

The festival, organised by the national theatre company Teatru Malta, promises to be a treat for everyone, especially those who know the original texts who are curious to see what the students, guided by their respective directors, have managed to create.

Trikki Trakki youth theatre festival will be performed at Blue Box Theatre, M Space, Msida, on Saturday at 5pm and 6.15pm. This festival is supported by the Drama Unit and the Education Ministry. For tickets, visit kultura.mt.
