Misogyny and patriarchal attitudes still dominate the Maltese society, according to an expert in gender issue.

Speaking on Times Talk, Dr Marceline Naudi from the University of Malta's Gender Studies Department tackles the issue of femicide - the killing of a woman by a man on account of her gender.

Most of these murders are the result of violence committed by an intimate partner over power and control issues.

The interview was carried in the aftermath of the murder of a woman and her mother off Gudja last weekend.

Scores of protesters had marched in Valletta last September in memory of the women killed by partners or relatives in Malta.

The full interview with Dr Naudi will be uploaded on Wednesday.
