Long wait

A renowned coffee shop/catering establishment that opened recently in Mrieħel leaves much to be desired as far as service goes. Its good name can easily be lost if patrons continue to complain about long waits, especially for take-out items, and to pay. Another till would certainly go a long way in shortening the queues of waiting customers.

No planning

Why is it that many pavements, even on newly-built roads, rarely have ramps meant to allow easier access to those with mobility problems? A new road and pavement were built recently in Mosta but nobody bothered to include a ramp for those in a wheelchair or handling a push-chair. Surely, such ramps do not require much additional work.

Messy waters

A reader who visited the pond at the petting farm in Ta’ Qali, twice in the same month says it is in a disastrous state. The pumps were switched off, certainly during both visits, raising doubts as to whether any of them are in working condition. Some of the Koi fish need to be rehomed, he says.

Out of date

The owner of a truck posts a notice issued by the Pietà local council banning parking in a white parking space in the locality. The permit seems to be authentic but a closer look reveals it is nine years old, dated July 2010. Is it possible nobody in authority spotted this abuse since it occurs regularly?

Blown away

The strong gusts of wind that battered the island recently blew several grey recycling bags all over Naxxar. True, it was a force majeure but, days later, the bags could still be seen strewn all over the locality. Residents who take rubbish bags out on the wrong day are duly fined but the powers-that-be must lead by example and when such situations occur they need to act fast and effectively to show they mean what they say that we must all look after the environment.
