I enjoyed reading the article ‘I want to be heard by those cutting down the last trees’ (March 16) about the hundreds of students protesting against the massacre of our environment, causing climate change.
It seems to me that, on the surface, steps are being taken to rectify the matter. But it stops there. It appears as though there is laissez faire in Malta more than in any other place in Europe. There are instances when one hopes the necessary action is being taken to subdue this horrible problem but, again, only in our fantasy.
I dare not list the cause that brought about climate change since there are a hundred and one reasons, at least. It is useless complaining if no action is taken immediately to remedy the situation. However, I sincerely believe that if we all begin by doing what is necessary (no matter how small/or big) we would have made the first step to a long journey.
