Special Olympics Malta’s medal success in the World Games continued between Sunday and Monday as several athletes achieved more podium placings in Abu Dhabi.

Gymanst Annemarie Bugeja won four silver medals in different disciplines and an overall bronze medal.

Enrique Xerri won a bronze medal in pommel horse, parallel bars, vault and horizontal bar before capping the day with an overall bronze medal.

Warren Schembri and Doreen Vella were also on the podium in table tennis competitions after picking up a silver medal.

In athletics, Mattheus Muscat won silver in the shotput event on Sunday before picking up a bronze medal in the 400m race.

Maltese bowlers, under the charge of Rick Vogelesang and Giancarlo Tulo, continued to enjoy more success with Philip Gruppetta collecting two more gold medals.

He won the singles tournament and then teamed up with Peter Mallia to win the doubles competition.

Miriana Pace took the bronze medal in her singles competition.

Another gold medallist in bowling was Mark Serge.

On Monday morning, Amanda Cini and Jessica Farrugia added another gold medal when they won the doubles competition.
