I refer to the article entitled ‘Please save my cheeky boy’ (The Sunday Times of Malta, March 10). Now, if such a story doesn’t sadden you, I don’t know what will.
The joy of keeping such a horse, which suffers from a genetic stifle joint problem, is more valuable than anything else. The horse’s owner, who has made sure that the animal is pain free, certainly deserves a pat on the back. The horse can run free, but not be ridden, and therefore can enjoy life to the full. Unfortunately the horse’s condition is a result of inbreeding, which really should be avoided.
