The musical Wojtyla – God’s Clarion Call was staged at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, over the weekend. The musical was produced in collaboration with the Fondazzjoni Santa Cecilia (Gozo) to mark 40 years from the beginning of the pontificate of John Paul II as well as the 70th anniversary of the Don Bosco Oratory in St Augustine Square.

The musical drama was entirely a Gozitan production with over 90 actors, dancers and musicians. Jamie Camilleri played Karol Wojtyla, supported by established actors and singers as well as several emerging talents. The orchestra was under the direction of Mro Antoine Mercieca who also composed the music to the lyrics by Joseph W. Psaila. Saviour Cremona was artistic director.
