YouTube has confirmed the availability of its YouTube Partnership Programme (YPP) to the ecosystem of local content creators in Malta.

Thanks to YPP, content creators eligible to the programme can now earn money from their videos on the video-platform, monetising their contents with adverts.

Silvio Schembri, Junior Minister for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation, thanked Google for being open for discussions with the Maltese government on the partnership programme and now looks forward to seeing Maltese artists and content creators benefit from it on par with other European citizens. Mr Schembri said “we will be helping local content creators to make the best use of the YPP with an information event together with Google”.  He added that the government would continue to support Google to further invest in Malta’s thriving digital economy.

We hope YouTube will become even more an engine for growth

Enrico Bellini, public policy manager, Google, said: “We are happy to announce the availability of the YPP in Malta, a sign that positive and concrete results are reachable through dialogue and collaboration to help protect and monetise contents online. With this further improvement we hope YouTube will become even more an engine for growth.”

Content creators can also have access to a wide range of tools and resources to make the most of their content on YouTube. At the YouTube Creator Academy, one finds tips and lessons on topics like how to create great content or suggestions on how to grow your community, as well as deep dives on marketing, analytics or video production, while the creator community gives creators a place to meet each other, find collaborations and more.
