Reference is made to Alfred Cauchi’s letter ‘Direct bus to hospital’ (March 12).

The correspondent is kindly reminded that Mater Dei Hospital is the second-best connected location in Malta, with 28 routes connecting the hospital to many different localities around the island. Routes 120 or X1, for example, are ideal for passengers wishing to travel from Pembroke to the bus stop just outside the entrance to Mater Dei.

Malta Public Transport would like to clarify that route TD17 was introduced as a park-and-ride service from Pembroke to the University of Malta to offer students and University staff a greener travel option in view of the limited parking spaces available on campus. This route was recently extended to the Università 3 bus stop, which is a three-minute walk to the hospital day care entrance, in order to also cater for Mater Dei employees.

Malta Public Transport is also offering a 30-day pass on this route at €20, bringing the cost down to 50c per trip if one uses this service regularly.
