Obituaries

ARRIGO. On March 11, EDGAR, aged 70, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Alice, his daughters Anita and her husband Robert Grech, Julia and her husband Mark Valentino, his sons Simon and his wife Stephanie, Mark and his partner Rebecca, his treasured grand-children Luke, Benji and baby Emma to whom he was a much loved nonno, his brother George and his wife Lorraine, in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

BURTON. On February 27, at Heritage Care Centre, ROGER of Balham, London, aged 82, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sister Jean and her husband Rodney, his sister Edwina, his brother Michael, his brother Tim and his wife Gwynnie, his brother-in-law Paddy and his wife Irene and other relatives and friends. The funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at St Anselm, Tooting Bec, tomorrow, Friday, March 15, at 10am. May he rest in peace. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

CARUANA. On March 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFIO of Cospicua, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife of 61 years, Maria, his children Canon Evan Caruana, archpriest of Żabbar, Maruska and her husband George Scerri, Dr Ludvic Caruana and his wife Dr Sylvana Borg Caruana, his grandchildren Andrei and his fiancée Kelsey May, Roberta, Luigi Rocco, Michela and Emilia, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Friday, March 15, at 2.15pm, for the collegiate church of the Immaculate Conception, Cospicua, where Mass will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Gudja cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CAUCHI. On March 9, at Mater Dei Hospital, WILLIAM, aged 63, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Josanne, his children Malcolm, Martina and her fiancé Steven, his sisters Rose, Lilian, widow of Joe, Isabelle and her husband Tony, Lina, widow of his brother Godwin, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Thursday, March 14, at 1.30pm, for Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, where funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Caritas Malta, Floriana, will be greatly appreciated. May he rest in the peace of the Risen Lord.

GALEA. On March 14, ASTRID, aged 53, passed away peacefully at her home comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Christopher, her son James and Marylyn, daughter Jennifer; her parents Albert and Artemia Attard, her brother Alan and wife Carmen, her sister Alison, her brother Fr Adrian; her in-laws Peter and Josephine Galea, Simon and wife Gerlie, her nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, March 16, for St Therese Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.15am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family would like to thank Hospice Malta, Balzan, for their incessant care, unfailing support and dedication. “God would turn the world around to find suffering in order to give it to a soul upon whom He has set His Divine gaze with ineffable love” – St Therese

PALMIER. On March 14, Dr CARMELO PALMIER, DD, S.Th.M., Dip.Lib. (NSW), aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Emma, née Bonnici, his sister Mary, wife of Ritchie, his brother Albert and his wife Marcelline, his in-laws amongst them Sister Enrica Bonnici, nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, March 16, at 8.30am, for St Mary’s parish church, Attard, where Mass will be said at 9am. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

In Memoriam

CUTUGNO. In loving memory of ARTHUR, today the 11th anniversary of his death. Fondly remembered by Violet, his children and grandchildren. Always in our thoughts and prayers.

FALZON SANT MANDUCA – ALBERT. On the 38th anniversary of his demise. Fondly re-membered by his son-in-law John and his grandchildren Philip, Julian and Mary Ann. Lord, grant him eternal peace.

GATT – TONY, 14-3-14. In loving memory of a very dear father, brother, uncle and friend on the fifth anniversary of his demise. Fondly remembered by his son Colin, family and friends. Always in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace.

GRECH – JENNIFER. Kindest memories of a loving and caring mother on the fifth anniversary of her passing away. Always missed and never forgotten by her children, grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews, and all her family and friends. May she rest in peace. A Mass to celebrate her life will be said today at 6.30pm at Tal-Ibraġ church.

HOGG. In loving memory of CHARMAINE, today being the fourth anniversary of her death. Sadly missed by her son Mark and his family.

SPITERI – MARTIN JOSEPH. Today being the fifth anniversary of his demise. Sadly missed by his wife Pauline, his children Marquita, Arlette, Maria, Charlotte and Nicky and their respective families and his grandsons Julian and Yani. Always in our thoughts and prayers.
