Malta U-21 coach Silvio Vella has named a squad of 20 players for the two friendly matches against Turkmenistan on March 22, 2019 and Kosovo four days later.

The games will be played during a training camp in Antalya, Turkey, which is part of the Malta U-21s’ preparations for the upcoming 2021 UEFA U-21 Group 8 qualifying campaign. Denmark, Romania, Ukraine, Finland and Northern Ireland are the other teams in Malta’s group.

There are five newcomers in the squad for this month’s training camp and friendlies, including midfielders Gary Camilleri, currently playing on loan with Senglea Athletic from Balzan, and Russel Fenech, currently turning out for BOV First Division leaders Sirens on loan from Valletta.

Other new additions in the squad are Sliema Wanderers forward Omar Elouni together with the two foreign-based players in this squad, Neil Frendo, who recently joined OFK Belgrade in Serbia, and Marcus Grima who is furthering his football experience with League One promotion contenders Barnsley.

The Malta U-21 squad will depart for Turkey this coming Wednesday.
