A balcony in Sliema crashed onto the street, probably as a result of the gale force winds which whipped the island on Tuesday morning.
The entire stone balcony in Hughes Hallett Street, close to Tigné seafront, appeared to have collapsed, according to witnesses.
Rocks from the balcony hit a car parked just below it, inflicting major damage. Nobody was injured. Photo: Jonathan Xuereb
The entire area was cordoned off.
Another balcony in Sliema has also been reported in danger of collapse, according to the police, though they would not identify the area.
Tuesday's winds come just two weeks after Malta experienced its worst storm in a generation.
