I fail to understand why canine societies – the ruling bodies – object to calling the judge officiating at a show, l-imħallef.

Wherever you go in the four corners of the world, a judge is called a judge in their own language. In Italy it is giudice, England – judge, France – juge, Spanish – juez and Germany – richter.
