SsangYong enthusiasts will be happy to know that SsangYong’s latest Sports Utility Truck (SUT), the Musso Grand, is set to arrive on Maltese shores next month.

Unveiled in Korea earlier this year, the Musso Grand (branded Rexton Sports Khan in Korea), is a long-bodied version of the Korean automaker’s popular Musso, the game-changing pick-up truck known for its class leading safety features, fierce performance and overall affordability.

While the Musso Grand shares most of its features with its short-bodied counterpart, certain notable features in performance and design have been upgraded to target those keen on outdoor activities and leisure sports, who require a higher payload.

The Grand’s cargo platform has a length of 1,610mm, allowing for a capacity of 1,262 litres, pushing the vehicle’s overall length to 5,405mm with a wheelbase of 3,210mm, while its load capacity has been increased to 1,020kg owing to the vehicle’s heavy-duty leaf spring suspension in the rear.

Under the hood, the Korean vehicle comes equipped with a 2.2l e-XDi220 turbo-diesel engine with an increased power output of 420Nm in order to deal with the vehicle’s increased load capability. Unlike the original model, the Musso Grand will not include a manual gearbox and will only feature a five-step automatic transition. The long-bodied SUT, like all SsangYong models, will boast a substantial number of safety features including emergency breaking, frontal collision warning, blind zone monitoring and cross-traffic tracking when reversing.

The interior has been kept identical to the short-bodied model including heated leather seats, climate control, automated air-conditioning and a state-of-the-art infotainment system. While the exterior design has also been kept the same as the original Musso, with sleek curves complementing the vehicle’s fierce presence, two notable differences in the Musso Grand differentiate this model’s design; its custom grille and inscription on the rear flap. The bespoke grille features vertical jumpers inspired by the Greek Parthenon, which conveys a timeless and classic design and the inscription bares the long-bodied SUT’s five-letter model name ‘Grand’.

The SsangYong Musso Grand, which is set to be available in Malta in April, will have a five-year unlimited warranty, guaranteeing a superior and well-equipped vehicle synonymous with the SsangYong brand.
