Who does not remember Simon Busuttil, just days prior to the June 2017 election, promising that a Nationalist government would give a grant of €10,000 to each couple who decides to reside in Gozo. But when pressed by journalists for details on how such an electoral pledge would be implemented, he replied: “We will give the details within three months after winning the election.” I am sure the said electoral gimmick had made the PN’s historical defeat more pronounced.

Adrian Delia seems to be following the same route as Busuttil. Days ago he said that a PN government “would guarantee everybody a place where to live”. Once again, when pressed for details on how such a remarkable electoral pledge would be delivered, he responded there was still time till the election.

It is glaringly obvious that both Busuttil and Delia’s sole interest was to try and dupe enough voters to get a more respectable electoral result. And, thus, help them keep their positions as leaders of the PN. Just as Busuttil had failed miserably in his attempt, so will Delia.
