Malta International Airport plc are to be congratulated on the hoarding they have erected in the tunnel and around the new building site at the airport, depicting the traditional colourful house fronts and doors to be found in the towns and villages from around our beautiful island.

No doubt, it makes for a pleasing sight to visitors of our island.

How ironic, therefore, that, in reality, these same visitors will see that this unique feature of our townscapes is fast being replaced by characterless non-descript buildings that are resulting in the wholesale destruction of what goes to form part of the architectural cultural heritage and identity of our towns and villages.
