Entitled Stories Untold, the exhibition, curated by Charlene Vella, comprises a series of paintings portraying enigmatic figures that allow for an abundance of mystery waiting to be discovered. More often than not, the subject is a woman, and moreover, they tend to be the artist’s self-portraits in disguise.

There appear to be contrasts in how these figures are projected, perhaps revealing a dichotomy in the artist’s own conduct. Some are diffident or sensual, even seemingly disturbed and onerous. Others are demure in their stance or brazenly look fixedly at the spectator, not awaiting judgement but begging to tell their individual story.

The Stories Untold exhibition is taking place at Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre, 3, Triq is-Sur, Mdina, from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 5pm.
