Recently the Nationalist Party held an assemblage for its counsellors at their party’s headquarters. There were many who spoke in praise of the work done since time immemorial, including George Borg Olivier, Eddie Fenech Adami, Lawrence Gonzi and Simon Busuttil, and now Adrian Delia.
All the former prime ministers were praised for all they did for the country. When speaking about Gonzi they, in their majority, praised him for his ability to manage to get €1.2 billion from the EU, which was a great achievement. However, Gonzi’s didn’t do only that.
During the time he was at the helm, the whole world was crippled with recessions and inflation, whereas Malta’s economy was as though nothing ever happened. Hence Gonzi’s work couldn’t be appreciated.
