The two FA Trophy quarter-final matches scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday, at the National Stadium have been postponed amid safety concerns caused by the inclement weather and warnings of gale-force winds.

The Malta Football Association has taken this decision to ensure the safety of the general public, which is of paramount importance, and following the necessary consultations.

New dates for the two quarter-final ties due to have been played on Sunday – Tarxien Rainbows vs Balzan and Hibernians vs Valletta – as well as Saturday’s matches will be announced in due course.

Saturday’s opening quarter-final, between Pietà Hotspurs and Gżira United, was abandoned by referee Emanuel Grech in the 88th minute after a hailstorm rendered the pitch of the Hibernians Stadium unplayable.

The second quarter-final, between Mosta and Birkirkara, was postponed to ensure the safety of the players and general public in light of the escalating weather and the condition of the pitch.
