Il-Qtates ta’ max-Xatt, a heartwarming children’s opera by Teatru Malta, directed by Denise Mulholland, will explore the sensitive subject of loss through the eyes of a group of singing stray cats that struggle to come to terms with the ‘disappearance’ of two of the most important people in their life.

Based on the book by Clare Azzopardi, Il-Qtates ta’ max-Xatt invites audiences, young and old, to indulge in this melodious interpretation of a story that explores one of children’s greatest fears through the cheerful mediums of puppetry and song. A quintet will feature Sofia Narmania (piano), Noel Beck (clarinet), Joseph Camilleri (percussion), Maria Conrad (violin) and Christopher Greenhalgh (violoncello).

The cast includes Ruth Sammut Casingena (Nanna/Pippistrell), Clare Ghigo (Kannell), Francesca Aquilina (Pinzell), Jean Pierre Busuttil (Nannu), Sean Borg (Ċippitatu) and Louis Andrew Cassar (Pilatu).

Il-Qtates ta’ max-Xatt will show today and tomorrow at 3pm and 6pm at the Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa. For more information, visit www.teatrumalta.org.mt. For tickets, visit https://www.kultura.mt/event/301.
