It was Louis Dobermann who created the Dobermann breed in 1899.

As a young man, he worked as a tax collector. Tax used to be paid in cash then but many were those who set their guard dogs free to drive away the taxman. Dobermann thought it best to create a dog of his own that would accompany him and protect him.

Dobermanns are not quarrelsome by nature, however, should another dog have the poor judgment to start a fight, it will find itself facing a formidable opponent because a Dobermann can more than hold its own.

We have heard a lot about the heroic deeds of the Dobermann: in the fight against crime, particularly theft; protecting their master and accompanying watchmen on their rounds.

Many are those who do not know that the Dobermann is a family dog par excellence – hardy, strong, sensible, intelligent and beautiful. They love and protect our children. At home, the Dobermann behaves in a thoroughly gentlemanly manner.
