Birkirkara maintained their six-point lead over Mġarr United at the top of the 2018/2019 BOV Women's League after their direct encounter in midweek ended in a goalless stalemate.

While the Stripes retained their strong advantage, the second-placed Mġarr United gave further testimony of their improvement this season as they ended the champions’ 11-game winning run.

The match was a hard-fought battle.

Birkirkara had a couple of clear-cut chances through Kailey Willis but she was unable to find the net.

On the other hand, Mġarr came close with a Claudette Xuereb shot from close range but her effort sailed over the bar.

In another match, Kirkop United stunned Hibernians as they snatched a point in a goalless draw to virtually dash the Paolites’ slim title hopes.

Hibernians and Kirkop remain third and fourth respectively with 23 and 17 points after 12 games.

Mosta faced Raiders (Luxol) in one of Tuesday's games. It was the latter who emerged victorious from this game thanks to a 57th-minute goal from young player Andy Zammit Mizzi.

Swieqi United beat bottom side Fgura United 2-0 to reach the 13-point tally.

Yolande Attard and Janice Spiteri were on target in the opening 45 minutes
