Ozzy Osbourne has been admitted to hospital after experiencing complications from the flu.

“His doctors feel this is the best way to get him on a quicker road to recovery,” the 70-year-old rocker’s wife Sharon Osbourne tweeted.

“Thanks to everyone for their concern and love.”

The illness has already led to the cancellation of the European leg of his No More Tours tour.

After the tour postponement, a statement was released confirming that Ozzy had been diagnosed with a severe upper-respiratory infection that was in danger of developing into pneumonia.

In a statement, Ozzy said: “I want to apologise to all of my fans who have been so loyal over the years, my band, my crew and to Judas Priest for letting you all down. However, I promise the tour with Judas Priest will be completed. It’s being rescheduled right now to start in September."
