Alfred Quintano is delivering a 90-minute talk entitled ‘Place Branding and Place Attachment’ at the Volunteer Centre, 181, Melita Street, Valletta, on Wednesday at 6.30pm, organised by Philosophy Sharing Malta. After the talk, the foundation will be holding its annual general meeting, which is open to both members and non-members.
Quintano is a lecturer and management consultant specialising in the tourism, aviation and hospitality sectors. His last position at Air Malta was as executive assistant to the chairman. In 2005 he left the airline to set up the Office of Strategy Management for a major hotel chain.
He was for several years a director of the Malta Tourism Authority and its acting chairman, and has held several other directorships in tourism and aviation-related enterprises. He served as chairman of Malta’s Sustainable Development Network Board, deputy chairman of Malta International Airport and chairman of Malta’s Aviation Advisory Board where, in 2013, he piloted the drafting and public consultation on ‘A Civil Aviation Policy for Malta 2014-2020’ for the Ministry for Tourism and Aviation.
Quintano holds a PhD from the University of Portsmouth, an MBA from Maastricht School of Management and a BA Honours degree in Economics from the University of Malta. He has published papers and a book on decision choice analysis in the hospitality industry.
In 2015, he was appointed as senior advisor to the UN World Tourism Organisation.
