No wonder only the most hard line of Nationalist Party hardliners watch Net News.

The PN’s TV station has become Malta’s top broadcaster of fake news. Its most recent and classic case was Net TV’s broadcast of what it claimed to be a video of the Central Bank’s Christmas Party in which supposedly Central Bank employees were heard singing Labour Party slogans. The video was purposely broadcast blurred and in black and white.

In fact, that video was a recording of Labour supporters singing party slogans at the counting hall as soon as they got to know that their party had won the June 3, 2017 election. This was clearly exposed in Karl Stagno Navarra’s Pjazza, where the same video clip was broadcast in colour.

The obvious aim behind this fake news was to cast a very bad light on the administration of the Central Bank of Malta. Such fake news could easily be picked up by some foreign news media which, in turn, would spread this fake news in other countries.

The more the PN media, under the leadership of Pierre Portelli, resorts to this kind of vile political tactics, the more the PN will plunge deeper into a political abyss.
