Pop star Ariana Grande may want to double-check her Japanese before getting her next tattoo.

The singer revealed on Twitter a new palm tattoo in Japanese kanji script reading “seven rings”, the title of her latest single.

Except, in what sounds like an old joke, the tattoo does not actually read “seven rings”. It reads “BBQ grill”.

Japanese fans quickly pointed out that while the two characters making up the tattoo individually read “seven” and “rings”, when put together the meaning changes to “shichirin”, a small charcoal grill used for BBQ.

The singer later acknowledged the mistake, saying she had accidentally left out several characters that would have led to the correct spelling.

She joked that she would not have made it through the pain of tattooing more symbols, and also she was a "huge fan of tiny BBQ grills."
