Birkirkara and Hibernians will on Monday look to complete the swap deal that will see Jake Grech head to the Paola club with Malta goalkeeper Andrew Hogg moving to the Stripes.
This high-profile transfer came to life last weekend when Grech informed the Birkirkara hierarchy that he wanted a move away from the club as he was struggling for first-team football at the club.
Hibernians approached Birkirkara to sign the player and the Paolites have offered goalkeeper Andrew Hogg plus a considerable sum of money to land the young Malta midfielder.
Both Grech and Hogg have accepted the transfer and sources have told Times of Malta that the former Ħamrun midfielder has already agreed a five-year contract with the Paolites.
Hogg, on the other hand, is expected to hold talks with the Stripes on Monday afternoon.
For Hibernians, the capture of Grech is a major coup for coach Stefano Sanderra as he was keen to bring in a quality replacement for Johann Bezzina, who incidentally this month also joined Birkirkara.
However, the departure of Hogg leaves the Paolites with a race against time to sign a new goalkeeper before Thursday's transfer deadline.
Meanwhile, Birkirkara have made it clear to Times of Malta that Hogg's arrival at Birkirkara does not put in jeopardy the future of Macedonia goalkepeer Kristjan Naumovski at the club.
