I cannot understand why we need to spend millions of euros to build a tunnel just because we cannot be efficient in the way we operate our ferry service.

All that needs to be done is ope­rate a booking system just like for the airlines. Once the booking system is in place then there will no longer be any queues, frustration and grumbling. Imagine building a tunnel to Sicily because we do not have a direct connection! If the Grand Harbour is used as another port of loading and disembarking then we will reduce the number of cars travelling to Ċirkewwa to travel to Gozo from the south.

The government needs to re­think the idea of a tunnel. We should be spending money in­stead on safeguarding the environment and replacing all the trees and green areas that are being taken up to expand our roads.

We need to stand up to be count­ed. We cannot simply carry on with a complete disregard for the environment.
