BOV Women’s League leaders Birkirkara extended their perfect run after overcoming strugglers Mosta 5-0 to make it 10 wins on the trot.

In another game from matchday 10, Mġarr United consolidated second spot after beating Hibernians 2-0 to deal another blow to the former champions’ title hopes.

Birkirkara are leading the standings with maximum points – 30 after 10 games, scoring 44 goals and conceding only two in the process.

Mġarr are six points behind them while Hibernians are on 19 points with their title hopes all but over after their defeat to the Greens.

A goal in each half were enough for Mġarr, led by Patrick Curmi, to keep leaders Birkirkara in sight.

Roxanne Micallef put the Greens ahead past the half-hour mark. After the change of ends, Angelique Schembri secured Mġarr’s win when netting their second goal 10 minutes from the end.

Birkirkara underlined their dominance as they hit five past Mosta.

Melania Bajada’s team took 30 minutes to break the deadlock through Tracy Teuma.

Just before half-time, Ylenia Carabott doubled the score for the champions.

Any hopes of a Mosta comeback were dashed when, at the start of the second half, Kailey Willis extended Birkirkara’s advantage to 3-0.

Carabott got her second on the hour mark before Alishia Sultana wrapped up Birkirkara’s win with the fifth goal on minute 82.

Swieqi United and Raiders (Luxol) shared the spoils in a goalless stalemate. Interestingly, the first-round encounter had also ended in a draw.

Estonia international Liis Pello grabbed a brace (9th and 47th minutes) with the other goals coming from Jasmine Grech and Demi Magrin.
